Rabbi Dovid Slavin, executive director of the Sydney Yeshiva Rabbinical College, was knocked unconscious after falling backwards. His alleged assailant is his brother-in-law, Rabbi Elazer Gestetner, who heads the congregation at the Sydney beachside suburb of Coogee. It is understood the fight broke out following an argument over the administration of the yeshiva. Slavin spent a week in the hospital while Gestetner appeared in a local court, where he will face charges.
