Chief Rabbi Denounces Police Probe
02:19 Mar 17, '05 / 6 Adar 5765

(IsraelNN.com) Chief Rabbi Yona Meltzer thinks opponents to his appointment as chief rabbi planted eavesdropping devices in his office, according to an interview in the Mishpacha (Family) magazine. The rabbi added that the recent investigation against him of alleged favoritism was an embarrassment to the country.

Rabbi Meltzer is suspected of having received special rates for his family in a hotel. He explained that he personally paid the full rate for his hotel room and that he can't understand why there should be a problem of using his status as a government employee to have his children stay at special rates.
