Due to popular demand, I have posted an email address for tips.

1) Have very clear subject lines.
2) Do not send attachments of any sort, unsolicited or without my prior consent, they will be automatically deleted.
3) If you want to argue about posts, post it here. I have no time to get into repetative debates by email. Same for mushy fanmail, please post it in the blog.
4) I am not able to provide victims of abuse services or advice. The appropriate people to contact are the Awareness Center.
5) I can only post materials when I have documentation or knowledge through tested contacts.
6) I already deal with several 100 emails a day, do not expect quick responses or any response if your message falls under 1, 2 or is unimportant.
7) I cannot cover every scandal or grievance.
8) Feel free to post in any comments.

JWB, are you going to post about Sheya Mendelowitz? I see there was some discussion in previous threads about him. It is truly an outrage that in my community, there were ads in the jewish weekly for a concert to benefit a local yeshive with Mendelowitz's name prominently featured when his wife is being held in an agunah status and her children not given any financial support from their father. The guy should be ostracized - not lauded. Unblievable.

Can you tell us something about yourself? I don't think I feel comfortable sending tips to someone I don't know.

1. Who are you?

2. What credentials do you have to be doing this?

2. Why do you do what you do? What's your motivation?

He/she has been challenged many times to answer questions like those, and he/she refuses.

It is much easier for him/her to spread exaggerations and half-truths when anonymity protects him/her from any public scrutiny.

No.

Than send your tips elsewhere.

I try to be as accurate as possible and believe my track record speaks for itself.

I spoke to Vicki Polin at The Awareness Center in the past. At one point she told me about Luke Ford and the blog he had. I was aware he was posting information about other people's cases, and making them public. Vicki was pretty open and honest with me about Luke, and told me about his connection to the porn industry. She let me make the choice to decide if I felt comfortable giving him my story. I did my homework and read everything I could about him. I went back and forth about calling him with my story. I wanted to give him "tips", but my gut said no.

I've given Vicki my story, and gave her permission to pass it on to their volunteer researchers. They never did anything with it. I figured if I felt comfortable with you, then I would try this again.

I want to stop my offender, but I can't do this alone. I want to go to people who are appropriate. I want to make sure you are. Just because you have a blog doesn't make you a safe person.

I would follow up with her. She has few resources and is overwhelmed with cases. It may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Also, it may be there is simply no documentation on your abuser.

There are many names I'm looking at that I cannot post here for that reason.

>I figured if I felt comfortable

I'm prepared to take tips anonymously. I don't need your specific story details or identity. Go to a public library and start a hotmail account and email your information anonymously. If I can find documentation related to your abuser I will post it.

I can only post personal statements on a case, if I have seperate sources backing-up that story.

I agree, be cautious. But let me be clear, I am not able to provide victims of abuse services or advice. The appropriate people to contact are the Awareness Center.

If you want to send your tips to me that is fine, if not that is fine too. But sending me tips is no guarantee I will be able to do anything other than add it to a list of people I look into from time to time.

I think it would be a great idea for someone to compile a list of journalists/writers who do investigate these stories and are willing to write up on them. If there are any others (?)

I'd love to provide a list. Unfortunately, it's very short:

Currently -
1) Gary Rosenblatt - Jewish Week (NY)
2) Rukhl Schaechter - Forward (NY)

If readers or reporters want to add names, feel free to do so.

Bingo.

100%.

Either does being a Rabbi, a community leader, a reporter, a social worker, a pychiatrist, a psychologist, a Judge etc.

I assume the person who abused you, who obviously held some position of trust or authority, and turned out not to be a "safe person" either.

If you're not comfortable sending me an anonymous tip, don't.

As to my motivation, here's a link (see bottom):

Although not addressed to me I will answer this too, as I've been posting about Gafni/Winiarz for close to 10 months and looking into his background for an additional year or so.

>What do you get out of all this?

I get a safer Jewish community, where those who are most vulnerable are not preyed on by degenerates like Gafni and further intimidated from coming forward by people like Gafni's enablers.

And I ask "anonymous Jewish woman" why she is more worried about Luke's ethics than the ethics of all those who've stood silent for decades concerning Gafni/Winiarz and his ilk and those who still enable Gafni and his ilk.

Someone who knows how to do advanced searches should do one on some Arab newspaper website that did an article on J H Worchs' OBDSM (Orthodox Bondage/Discipline/Sado/Masochism) yahoo group. Sometime between 2001-2004.

They used it (sadly) to point to as an example of 'those sick perverted' Jews.
