I hope to have more on this and to comment further (if I can ever stop laughing).

I really, really want to see those emails to and from the JDO. Please someone post them in their entirety here.

Anyone with other information on this please feel free to post.

If any legal papers have been filed, please post them here.

It's true that Hashem makes shiduchim in Heaven. May degenerate Gafni and his followers/enablers enjoy the attention of the JDO for many years to come.

(a bit new to a lot of this)--Is the JDO a legitimate organization? What is it's history? What are your own views on it?
Thanks.

As much as the JDL or Jewish Renewal.

>What is it's

Check website at: www.jdo.org
and http://www.ihr.org/jdo/levy.shtml (sorry, it's a disgusting putrid Nazi site, but it has copies of articles about the JDO at this link)

>What are your own views
>on it?

I don't support the JDO, JDL or Jewish Renewal or any organization that uses violence or (in the case of Jewish Renewal) promotes a child molester.

Thanks.

Does Jewish Renewal gather most of it's members from Reform, or from all branches of Judaism?

It claims to be "post-denominational", that it includes all branches. It attracts from all branches. These people are typically 60s hippies. The ideas espoused are well outside the major branches of Judaism, Reconstructionist, Reform Conservative, Orthodox. It also has fewer standards. Basically, anything goes. That's why they started this movement. No one of any substance at the time (from left to right) wanted anything to do with them or their ideas. Some of the Jewish Renewal leadership are known for their wife-swapping and group sex (of course they are now in recovery).

These are real misfits. There are many in the movement that I like, I consider friends and actually have values. But honestly, the leadership of this movement are misfits.

Rabbi Arthur Waskow on wife-swapping and Halacha:
"Arthur Waskow, of the Jewish Renewal Movement, who has suggested that every couple must make its own decision to whether their particular ketubah requires monogamy."
(and don't get him started on Pilgeshs)

Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (recovering sex-addict) on what he teaches to his bar mitzvah boys:
I ask my Bar Mitzvah boys, “Do you masturbate?” And first they are a little sheepish about it and then they say, “Yes,” and I say, “You know what? It is a good thing to do on the Sabbath! Take your time, put on some music, and explore your body and what feels good for you, and most important, let God in."

Judaism, with no values, no boundaries. That's what attracts degenerates like child molester Rabbi Mordechai Gafni.

The publisher of Worch's last book is part of the Jewish Renewal Movement, no?

Note Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, whom you mentioned as a recovering sex addict, gives a positive review/blurb for Worch's book (which is nothing more than an open invitation for those struggling with drug/alcohol addictions to contact *him* for guidance, only to be led into worse addictions.)

>Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi

1) Multiple marriages, some quite short.
2) Has ended up living with women he was converting.
3) Wrote article about using drugs to get a spiritual high which got him fired from one pulpit.
4) Has advised people to live together before marriage.
5) Has been known to bring additional women home for group sex.

I'm hardly surprised that he attracts deviants like Gafni, Worch and Ozair (see: testimonial at http://www.kabbalahcoach.com/MeetMichaelozair.htm and sexual abuse history at http://www.theawarenesscenter.org/Ozair_Michael.html ).

A lot of these Jewish Renewal leaders were the ones who knew Carlebach was abusing women and girls and who kept silent.

Talking about Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, wasn't he an "Acid head"? I remember hearing stories about how he went to the Rebbe back in the '60's and explaining how he couldn't do Kiruv work unless he did hits of acid with them. You know meeting them where they are at and all. I heard that it changed his personality dramatically, and that's when and how his sex addiction started. "You have to feel sorry for this guy, he can't help himself".

Also no one looks at him as being a sex offender. The orgy's that happen in his home is always with consenting adults. No sexual assault if they are all willing partners.

My position as to such Rabbis is what the RCA used to claim (apparently the RCA hasn't applied this to the Rabbi Mordechai Tendler situation):

PENALTIES VARY WHEN CLERGY CHEAT ON SPOUSES
The Record (Bergen County, NJ); 3/1/2001; VERA LAWLOR, Staff Writer
...
Rabbi Steven Dworken, executive vice president of the Rabbinical
Council of America, said his Orthodox denomination has zero tolerance for rabbis who commit adultery.

"There's no question a rabbi who commits adultery would be expelled from the Rabbinical Council of America and would lose the ability to function as a rabbi or to teach in a classroom."

However, Dworken said the Manhattan-based organization would help the rabbi get his life back on track.

"It would be our obligation to try to help this person's spiritual and emotional needs," Dworken said. "And we would try to help his family."

The congregation also may need help to go through a healing
process, the rabbi said.

"The ultimate effect on the congregation will depend on how long the rabbi has been there," Dworken added. "Is this a rabbi who has been there only two years, or one who has seen generations through births,
marriages, and deaths?"

Do you know anyone who knows him from before the drug use? I don't have anything to compare to.

I feel sorry for the people he leads astray with his nonsense and Gafni's victims whose abuser he protects.

He has sexually exploited people looking for spirituality. He has sexually exploited people he has converted to Judaism. He has no business as a spiritual leader or as a teacher. Those who enabled him do both Zalman and those he sexually exploits a disservice.

Judaism can be summarized in two words: K'doshim t'hiu

It has no place for sexual orgies or group sex. That's not our religion.

I thought gossip was also against Jewish law and ethics, no?
