Rabbi Accepts Guilty Plea In Kidnapping Saga.
The tale of a teenager who disappeared in 1992 after being sent by his mother to an Orthodox rabbi for bar mitzvah lessons took another twist last week when the rabbi pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of conspiracy to kidnap.
Rabbi Shlomo Helbrans, 31, of Monsey, N.Y., entered the plea at the start of his kidnapping and conspiracy trial in Brooklyn Supreme Court with the understanding that he would be sentenced to five years probation and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
In a prepared statement, the rabbi said he agreed to the deal to avoid a "lengthy" trial that would be "very emotionally and physically draining to me, to my wife and to my family."
A co-defendant, Mordechai Weisz, 20, of Brooklyn, entered the same plea. Kidnapping charges against Rabbi Helbrans' wife, Malka, were dismissed.
The pleas surprised Hana Fhima,

6]many women leave the flock due to inappropriate questioning by hellburns himself.

The plea agreement by Rabbi Shlomo Helbrans was not accepted by the judge. There was a trial and he was convicted.

Women have to spend the night before their weddings with Helbrans. That seems to be the most troubling practice.

They use a lot of cult techniques to isolate cult members from their families.
