A teacher in a religious boys' school is suspected of sodomizing and sexually abusing his pupils age 8 to 10. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the suspect's remand yesterday by seven days, and issued a gag order on his name or any details of the affair to protect the pupils' privacy.

The police believe that four brothers who studied in the school in
recent years had been allegedly assaulted by the suspect. One brother told his mother a few days ago of the teacher's acts, and she reported it to the police.

The teacher, a father of four, was arrested last Thursday and
confessed to some of the suspected acts. Police said he confirmed the statement of one of his victims, admitting that he had forced oral sex on one of the minors. However, he later retracted his statement and said he had remained clothed throughout the incident.

Five boys, including the four brothers, have so far testified in the affair.

The police believe that the suspect abused more children, and are
trying to trace other pupils he had taught.

remember that this behavior is rare in nomral orthodox institutions. In this particular case its a rebbe in a chareidi chassidishe school.

Hardly, abuse is as common in any denomination of Judaism as it is in common society.
